How To Find The Perfect Pair Of Glasses

I can remember making fun of my "four-eyed" friends when I was a kid. It looked like an inconvenience, always having something on your face, and I didn’t want to have to go through that till I was old. Little did I know that I would be wearing glasses before I turned 16. It felt like the world was going to end when my optician told me, I am going to need extra eyes, well the world didn’t end and I have been wearing my glasses since then. I have learned to embrace my mandatory accessory that I really don’t think about it anymore.

Since people recognise you with your face, the eyeglasses you choose to wear are a very vital part of your identity. Eyeglasses can help people see you get a glimpse at your personality without even talking to you. The key is to find the frames to match your personality and lifestyle. There are dozens of pairs in different colours, shapes, and styles to suit your ever-changing mood and look. So you need to make sure you get the ones that are as flattering as possible because glasses can be expensive.

Durability is important but it shouldn't take away your style and personality. There are a lot of fashionable and durable frames you can choose from. Let's consider these factors if you are considering getting new frames.

Take your face into consideration
1. Contrast - The shape of your frame should contrast with the shape of your face. For example, if you have angular features, consider a round frame

2. Proportion - This is where a lot of people make mistake when picking out a frame. You want your frame to be proportional to the rest of your face. Your frames are not sunglasses, which tend to be larger for greater coverage. This does not mean you can't pick larger frames, just make sure they don’t look heavy on your face, your face and frames should balance each other. Also if you have a wide face, don't choose frames that are too narrow for your face. #

3. Colour - This depends on how much of a statement you want your glasses to make. Glasses that contrast the tone of your face and hair will stand out more. The colour can either match or accentuate the colour of your eyes.
Your lifestyle
1. Business professional

It is advisable you go for the stereotypical conservative styles. I believe the frame should be stylish yet professional. Try to stay away from too bright colours. Titanium, stainless steel and plastic are really good choices.

2. On-the-go parents/ active people -

If you are a busy parent, or you work in an active environment, durability and style should be on your mind. I placed durability first because that's the first thing you should consider and the basis of your activities. Consider frames that can bend and twist without breaking. You can also consider interesting colours.

3. Creative minds/ young people

If you're a creative person or professional, your glasses should speak to your personality and be fun. Young people should also not be scared to experiment with style. You should consider modern shapes and thick plastics frequently pair well with bold and unusual colours.

4. Older people

Older people should choose modern frames to keep them looking younger.

Your personality
The most important thing is to wear glasses that fit your personality. Your eyewear should showcase your fun-loving nature, or reflect the serious side of your personality. We all like convenience. But the truth is, there are many aspects of your life and personality. And to complement your multi-dimensional lifestyle, you need more than one pair of eyeglasses. So, if you can afford more than one pair of glasses, you should definitely get another one, everyone needs a spare.
